Doha, Qatar – Syracuse redshirt-sophomore Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi is a gold medalist. The Paris, France, native earned gold at the first- ever ANOC World Beach Games on Wednesday when France defeated The Netherlands, 15-9, in 3x3 basketball.
"I am glad I have been able to be a part of the World Beach Games," said Djaldi-Tabdi. "I am grateful to Coach Q for giving me the opportunity to leave during preseason to play for my national team. Not everyone understands how important it is to some people, and it is very important to me."
Djaldi-Tabdi had four points and shot 50 percent from the field in the win. France defeated Uganda, 20-14, in the quarterfinals and edged Brazil, 13-8, in the semifinals to advance to the gold medal game Wednesday night. Djaldi-Tabdi led France with five points in the semifinal win.
No stranger to the international stage, Djaldi-Tabdi has been a member of the U18 and U20 National Teams for France. She averaged 12 points and 12.1 rebounds per game en route to a fourth-place finish at the 2017 FIBA European Championship, where she ranked second among European Championship competitors in rebounding.

Djaldi-Tabdi tallied double-digit points in 15 contests and led the team in offensive rebounds (75) and blocked shots (36) in her first year with the Orange. She was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team by both the league's head coaches and the Blue Ribbon Panel.
