More Orange Set to Compete at World Championships
10/3/2019 9:50:00 AM | Track and Field
Two days after Orange star Justyn Knight turned in a 10th-place finish at the IAAF World Championships, another former Syracuse star will get her turn on the world stage.
Flings Owsusu-Agyapong, a 2012 grad and All-American with the Orange, who is now a volunteer assistant, will represent Ghana in the 4x00-meter relay. She'll be joined on the Ghana relay squad by fellow Orange volunteer assistant Gemma Acheampong on the team.
Owusu-Agyapong took 26th in the 100m dash at the 2016 Olympics and was chosen as her nation's flag bearer at the opening ceremonies in Rio. In college, she was the 2012 Big East champion in the 60-meter dash and was a two-time USTFCCA All-American throughout her career, earning second team honors (indoor) in 2012 and honorable mention accolades (outdoor) in 2011.
She ran in the 4x100-meter relay at the IAAF World Relays in Japan in May placing seventh in the finals. She also ran in the 4x100-meter relay in the African games in August, taking eighth.
The women's 4x100-meter relay heats will start Friday at 8:40pm and the finals will take place on Saturday at 3:15pm.
