
No. 18 Orange Kick-off Greater Victoria Invitational against Houston Thursday

Victoria, B.C. – No. 18 Syracuse (3-1) meets Houston (3-2) in the first of three games in three days for the Orange at the Greater Victorian Invitational presented by the City of Langford. 'Cuse is coming off an 81-64 loss to No. 1 Oregon last Sunday and looks to put itself back in the win column against a Cougars' team that has won its last two games.
Thursday is the first time in program history the two teams will face each other. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET.

'Cuse is led by Kiara Lewis who averages 15 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. Digna Strautmane (11 points, 4.8 rebounds per game) and Emily Engstler (10.8 points, 9.8 rebound) also average double figures in scoring for the Orange. Engstler leads the team in rebounds and is second in blocked shots (6). Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi leads the team with eight blocks and adds 7.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
'Cuse has outscored opponents by 8.0 points per game and is holding the competition to 31.7 percent from three-point range. The Orange's only loss of the season was on Sunday against the top-ranked Ducks where Syracuse trailed 31-30 at halftime.
Houston has three players in double figures through its first five games. Jasmyne Harris paces Houston with 14.6 points per game and is shooting 40 percent from the floor and 61.1 percent from the free-throw line. The Cougars are shooting 24.5 percent from three-point range and average 45.2 rebounds per game.
With a win, Syracuse will advance to play the winner of No. 3 Stanford/California Baptist at 10:30 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 29. A loss would send the Orange to the back-draw bracket where they would meet the loser of Stanford/CBU at 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday.
