
#18 Orange Face Second Top-5 Opponent of the Week Friday Night

The No. 18 Syracuse women's basketball team plays No. 3 Stanford Friday night for a spot in the Greater Victoria Invitational presented by the City of Langford Championship Game. The Orange won their first game in Victoria, 87-62, over Houston (3-3) on Thanksgiving Day. Fans can watch all three of Syracuse's games live on FloHoops or follow along with live stats. As always, Brian Higgins, the voice of Syracuse women's basketball, will be on the call live on 97.7 FM.
Kiara Lewis flirted with a triple double in the first of three games in three days for 'Cuse. She tallied 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists to pace the Orange. Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi added a season-high 16 points while three other Orange, Emily Engstler, Gabrielle Cooper and Amaya Finklea-Guity, all scored in double figures giving the Syracuse five players in double figures for the first time this season. The Orange shot an impressive 51.6 percent from the field in the win and tallied 22 assists as a team. Engstler notched her third double double of the season and led the team with 15 rebounds.Â
Stanford (6-0) escaped a scare in the first round of the Greater Victoria Invitational Thursday night defeating California Baptist, 83-78. Nadia Fingall led the Cardinal with 18 points and Lexie Hull had a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.Â
Friday is the first meeting in program history between the two teams.Â
The winner advances to play the winner of No. 10 Mississippi State/Green Bay in the championship game on Saturday night. The loser will face the loser of the MSU/Green Bay game in the third place game at 8:00 p.m. ET.Â
