VICTORIA, B.C. - No. 18 Syracuse closed out the Greater Victorian Invitational presented by the City of Langford with a 79-73 loss to Green Bay in the third-place contest Saturday afternoon. The night featured sophomore Emily Engstler recording her fourth double-double of the season, along with four Orange scoring in the double-digits. Engstler also pulled down a career-best 16 boards in the defeat. Syracuse returns to the hardwood Thursday, Dec. 5 to play Michigan.
"This trip up north was great and we faced great competition," head coach Quentin Hillsman said. "Tonight's game was about executing at the end of the game. We didn't take care of our business and make plays when they made shots. At the end of the day, to close games out, you have to make stops and you have to make plays and we didn't do that."

Of note:
- Engstler earned her fourth double-double of the season, and second of the tournament, after recording 12 points and a career-best 16 rebounds on the night.
- Redshirt junior Kiara Lewis and junior Digna Strautmane each recorded a team-high 16 points.
- Syracuse's shot protection was on point throughout the night. The Orange out-blocked the competition 6-1, marking the third time this year 'Cuse has deflected at least six attempts.
- Phoenix junior Lyndsey Robson had a career night, recording 30 points after sinking seven FGs, three treys and 13 free throws.
How it happened:
- Syracuse opened with back-to-back treys from senior Gabrielle Cooper and Engstler to take a 6-0 lead before Green Bay went on a 13-0 run to go up 13-6 halfway through the opening frame. The streak came to an end when freshman Taleah Washington knocked down a three from the top of the arc. 'Cuse continued to fight and put up a string of layups to close out the quarter and narrow the Phoenix' lead to 20-18.
- Syracuse and Green Bay went point-for-point in the second stanza. The Orange briefly took a one-point lead off a trey from Strautmane, but the Phoenix responded with a 12-6 run to carry a 37-30 lead into halftime. Engstler was halfway through a double-double after 20 minutes of play, putting up five points and six boards in the first half.
- 'Cuse went on a tear in the second half, going on a 20-10 run through the third to take a 50-49 lead.
- The Phoenix kept the pressure on throughout the fourth and sent it to overtime off a three-point buzzer beater from Robson.
- Green Bay edged out the Orange in extra time, putting up 13 points to Syracuse's eight off six shots from the charity stripe and four from the field to win it 79-73.
