SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange are back in action this weekend to play College Hockey America (CHA) foe Lindenwood in a two-game series to close out 2019. Puck drop for game one is Friday at 8:10p.m. EST, and game two gets underway Saturday at 2 p.m. EST. Both games can be seen live via Stretch TV here. A single win this weekend will mark the 100th CHA victory for the Syracuse ice hockey program.
Â
Syracuse had a tough loss to No. 3 Cornell last time out. Junior Victoria Klimek scored the Orange's lone goal on the night in what would end as a 4-1 defeat for 'Cuse despite a 25-save performance from senior goaltender Ady Cohen.
Â
The Hunt for 400
Head coach Paul Flanagan enters the weekend with 396 career wins. At 400, he'll become the seventh collegiate women's coach to hit the milestone, and second in the CHA behind Mercyhurst's Michael Sisti.
Â
Series History
Since their first meeting in 2011, Syracuse has dominated the all-time series (26-5-2). 'Cuse has won its previous six matchups against the Lions, including a 4-1 victory last March in the quarterfinals of the CHA Tournament. The venue has made little difference, as Syracuse holds an 11-2-1 record when playing on Lindenwood's ice.
Â
Scouting the Lions
Lindenwood is 2-10-3 so far on the year and is seeking its first conference win of the season. The Lions have been outscored 53-19 by opponents in their 15 games this season.
Â
Junior forward Megan Wagner leads the team in goals with three and points with five. Three players; Sierra Burt, Courtney Ganske, and Kirsten Martin are all tied for the team lead in assists with three.
Â
Goaltender Annika Anplundh has 327 saves this year and averages 3.34 goals allowed per game. The sophomore has a .912 career save percentage.
Â
See You Next Year!
