THE GAME
- Syracuse welcomes old Big East foe Rutgers to the Dome on Saturday in the Orange's fifth-straight game vs. a ranked opponent.
- The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra with Dana Grey and Ryan Powell on the call. Brian Higgins and Kyle Fetterly will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
PROMOTIONS CENTRAL
- Saturday's game will see numerous promotions to honor Syracuse's most loyal fans, as it's Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Day.
- Season Ticket holders were the option to attend a pregame reception, with Orange great Ryan Powell and Director of Athletics John Wildhack set to attend as well. This event is one of the many benefits to being an Syracuse lacrosse season ticket holder.
THE RUTGERS SERIES
- This will be Rutgers' first trip back to the Carrier Dome since 2013. The old BIG EAST foes had previously played annually from 1979-2013, before the Orange joined the ACC and Rutgers joined the Big Ten.Â
- The programs renewed the series last year, when the Scarlet Knights defeated the Orange 14-10 at High Point Solutions Stadium last season.
- Cuse leads the all-time series 41-9.
- Head Coach John Desko is 13-3 in the 16 meetings with the Scarlet Knights.
- Jamie Trimboli (0-3) and Stephen Rehfuss (1-2) each had three-point days in last year's losst in Piscataway.
AGAINST THE B1G TEN
- Syracuse enters Saturday's game with a 123-61-2 record all-time against the six current members of the Big Ten.
- 'Cuse has faced Johns Hopkins (27-30-1), Penn State (46-11-1, Rutgers (41-9), Maryland (6-11), and Ohio State (2-0). The Orange has never faced Michigan.
- This is the second-straight game against a Big Ten opponent after beating Hopkins 14-10 last week.
TOUGH ROAD AHEAD
- With Hobart and Navy both currently just outside the USILA poll, there's a good chance that every Syracuse opponent this season will have spent at least part of the season ranked. At the very least, every single opponent will have received votes.
- With Rutgers and Duke as the next two opponents, it's all but certain that the Orange are in the midst of six-straight games against ranked opponents.
- In the current USILA poll, Syracuse will, or has faced No. 2 Duke, No. 4 Cornell, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 11 Virginia, No. 15 North Carolina, No. 16 Rutgers, No. 17 Johns Hopkins, No. 18 Army West Point, RV Navy, RV Hobart, RV Colgate and RV Albany.
NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS
- Syracuse s 3-1 in non-league play so far this season, and is historically strong against non-league foes.
- Since joining the ACC, the Orange is 40-12 versus non-conference opponents, including a 36-9 mark in regular-season, non-league contests.Â
DESKO CLIMBING THE RANKS
- Desko enters Saturday's game 18th nationally on the all-time Division I wins list.
- He passed Avery Blake (Swathmore 1931-59, Penn 60-69) and Al Heagy (Maryland 1931-65) with his win over Johns Hopkins.
- Desko is six wins from tying Roy Simmons Sr. for second on Syracuse's all-time wins list (and 16th nationally). Three of Syracuse's four coaches all-time now rank inside the top-18 in NCAA Division I wins.
DOME-INATION
- Syracuse is 242-41 (.855) in the Carrier Dome since it began playing the majority of its home games there in 1981.
- The Orange finished 9-0 at the Dome in 2015, the 16th time since 1981 (the lacrosse team's first year there) that SU was perfect at home.
- 'Cuse has won 38 of its last-47 home games.
- The Orange have also earned a first-round 'Dome Game' in the NCAA Tournament in each of the last-six seasons.
