
Orange's NCAA Tournament Run Set to Begin at No. 1 Wisconsin

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse women's hockey's journey at the NCAA Tournament is set to begin tomorrow.
The Orange square off against top-seed Wisconsin in the quarterfinal round at 3 p.m. ET Saturday, March 16 inside LaBahn Arena in Madison, Wis. A video stream is available for free via BTN Plus, while fans can listen to the game on iHeart Radio and track live stats via the NCAA.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse (13-21-3) has won five of its last seven games, most recently picking up three wins in three days at the 2019 CHA Tournament. Defenseman Allie Munroe is the Orange's leading scorer with 27 points (5 goals, 22 assists), and forward Emma Polaski has the team lead in goals (11).
Forward Anonda Hoppner, the first-year newcomer who transferred from Colgate, was named the conference tournament's MVP. She recorded five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in three games.
Goaltender Ady Cohen has had the hot hand in net for the Orange as of late. Cohen is 5-6-1 between the pipes this season, recording a 2.64 goals against average and  .889 save percentage. Â
SCOUTING THE BADGERS
The Badgers own the country's best record at 32-4-2. Wisconsin is seeking to advance to the NCAA Frozen Four for the sixth straight year.Â
Wisconsin is led by forward Annie Pankowski, who has 45 points (23 goals and 22 assists) this season. Teammate Abby Roque has 40 points (9 goals, 31 assists).
The Badgers' defense is a major strength this season, allowing opponents to score 1.13 goals per game. Kristen Campbell, Wisconsin's starting goaltender, has a 1.13 goals against average this year.
FAMILIAR FOES
Wisconsin and Syracuse already squared off inside LaBahn Arena earlier this season. The Badgers earned a 6-1 win before picking up a 9-1 victory the following day.Â
The Badgers are 6-0 against the Orange in all-time meetings between the two programs. Wisconsin is 4-0 at home against Syracuse.
WHAT LIES AHEAD
The winner advances to the 2019 NCAA Frozen Four, which runs March 22-24 in Hamden, Connecticut.
