
Cooper Earns ACC Player of the Week Accolades

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse freshman Sarah Cooper is the ACC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Orange to a pair of wins against top-15 teams last week. It marks the first player of the week honor for Cooper and the second consecutive week a Syracuse player has been honored by the league.

The Lutherville, Maryland native picked up three ground balls, caused one turnover and won two draw controls in Syracuse's 15-11 win against No. 13/12 Loyola. Cooper and the 'Cuse defense held the Greyhounds scoreless for the first 13:31 as it built a 7-0 lead. She also recorded two ground balls, three caused turnovers and a draw control in the Orange's 16-11 victory against No. 7/6 Virginia. The win against the Cavaliers gave Syracuse three wins against top-15 teams in a span of seven days.

Cooper leads the team in caused turnovers (15), is tied for the top spot in ground balls (15) and tied for fourth in draw controls (9).

The No. 4/4 Orange go on the road for the first time this season for a battle of top five teams when they face No. 2/2 Maryland on Saturday, March 9 at Noon in College Park. The game will be televised on BTN Plus.
