SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Welcome to the postseason.
The 30th-ranked Syracuse women's tennis team faces off against No. 38 Georgia Tech in the second round when it begins play at the 2019 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Thursday, April 17. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.

WHAT'S NEW WITH THE ORANGE
Syracuse rose to No. 30 in the latest Oracle/ITA poll, which was released Tuesday, April 16. Previously, the Orange were ranked No. 31 in the country.
Syracuse dropped its final two regular-season match-ups, falling to then-No. 4 Duke, 6-1, before losing at Clemson by the score of 4-3. The Orange are 12-11 overall and 5-9 in conference play heading into the postseason.
The Orange's top doubles duo of senior Gabriela Knutson and junior Miranda Ramirez remain the 56th-ranked duo in the country. Sophomore Sofya Golubovskaya and freshman Sofya Treshcheva, meanwhile, jumped up six spots in the poll, checking in at No. 84. It is the second consecutive week that Syracuse has two ranked doubles pairs.
In singles, Knutson continued her stellar individual play, moving up six spots in the poll to become the 13th-ranked singles player in the nation. The rise comes after two impressive singles wins to close out the regular season, one of which came against then-No. 13 Maria Mateas of Duke.
Ramirez climbed in the singles poll, as well, claiming the No. 97 spot.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
No. 38 Georgia Tech enters the postseason with a 12-11 overall record and a 7-7 record in conference play. The squad dropped its final two regular-season contests.
Junior Kenya Jones is the Yellow Jackets' lone nationally ranked competitor. She is ranked No. 8 in the country in singles, holding a 15-5 overall singles this spring.
Syracuse played Georgia Tech on the road earlier this season. The Orange lost 4-3 to the then-No. 35 Yellow Jackets. Last season, the Orange were eliminated from the ACC Championship by the Yellow Jackets, losing 4-2 in the quarterfinal round.
OF NOTE
The ACC is the toughest tennis conference in the nation. Period.
Syracuse, ranked 30th in the nation, is one of 11 Atlantic Coast Conferences programs listed in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association's latest top-50 poll. North Carolina (No. 2), Duke (No. 3), NC State (No. 9), Florida State (No. 11), Miami (No. 21), Wake Forest (No. 22), Virginia (No. 23), Georgia Tech (No. 38), Boston College (No. 40) and Notre Dame (No. 46) are the conference's other representatives.
WHAT LIES AHEAD
If the Orange defeat the Yellow Jackets Thursday, they advance to the quarterfinal round. There, they will play top-seeded North Carolina at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 19 at 2:30 p.m.
