SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse women's tennis team has two all-conference honorees in the same season for the first time since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference.Â
Senior Gabriela Knutson was named All-ACC First Team for the second consecutive year, while junior Miranda Ramirez earned All-ACC Third Team recognition. The honors, announced Thursday, were determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.
The last time the Orange had two all-conference honorees in a single season was 2013, when Amanda Rogers and Maddie Kobelt were named to the All-BIG EAST Team. Syracuse has had an All-ACC honoree every year since it began competing in the conference in 2014.
Knutson, ranked in singles for the entirety of the spring, is currently No. 13 in the nation. She took home the conference's Player of the Week honor twice during the regular season, where she compiled a 15-7 singles record.
She went 8-5 against nationally ranked opponents and rose to the occasion against the toughest competitors. She picked up two victories over top-five opponents - Michigan's then-No. 3 Kate Fahey and North Carolina's then-No. 5 Makenna Jones.
Knutson is the only student-athletes in program history to be named to the conference's First Team twice.
Ramirez, meanwhile, won a team-high 16 singles matches in the spring. She played her best tennis in conference duals, going 10-4 against ACC competition.
The native of San Antonio, Texas, who was named Second Team All-ACC as a freshman in 2017, is currently ranked No. 67 in the nation in singles.
In doubles, Knutson and Ramirez were the Orange's top duo. Together, they teamed up to go 12-9 overall in the spring and were ranked every week since March 5, peaking at No. 56.
Knutson, Ramirez and the rest of the 31st-ranked Orange will learn their NCAA Tournament fate Monday, April 29. The selection show is set for 6:30 p.m. and will stream on NCAA.com.
