SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse women's tennis team has two nationally-ranked doubles pairs for the first time this season. The Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association's polls were released Tuesday, April 9.
The Orange's top duo of senior Gabriela Knutson and junior Miranda Ramirez moved up to No. 56 in the nation. Previously ranked No. 90, their surge in the rankings came after they defeated Miami's then-No. 17 doubles duo Sunday.
Sophomore Sofya Golubovskaya and freshman Sofya Treshcheva, meanwhile, jumped back into the rankings after a brief hiatus. The duo, which was ranked No. 24 to begin the spring, is listed at No. 90 in the latest poll, giving the Orange two nationally-ranked doubles pairs for the first time this year.
Knutson continued her ascent up the singles poll, too. She checked in at No. 19, up one spot from last week's rankings. Ramirez remained ranked, but dropped to No. 100.
As a team, the Orange checked in at No. 31. Syracuse, ranked No. 30 one week prior, is one of 10 Atlantic Coast Conferences programs listed, including North Carolina (No. 1), Duke (No. 4), NC State (No. 9), Florida State (No. 12), Virginia (No. 19), Wake Forest (No. 22), Miami (No. 25), Georgia Tech (No. 33) and Boston College (No. 36).Â
Syracuse finishes its regular season with two matches on the road. The team travels to Durham next Friday to face Duke before ending its regular season against Clemson Sunday.
