GREENSBORO, N.C. - Gabriela Knutson and Miranda Ramirez are officially three-time All-ACC Academic Team members.
The Orange duo was named to the team for the third year in a row, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Friday afternoon. At least one Syracuse student-athlete has earned a spot on the team in five of the six seasons that the Orange have competed in the conference.
Knutson, who graduated this spring, earned her degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Ramirez, a rising senior, is pursuing a degree in accounting from Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
On the court, Knutson picked up All-ACC First Team recognition for the second consecutive season after compiling a 15-7 singles record in the regular season. She went 8-5 against nationally ranked opponents and recorded two victories over top-five opponents, ranking as high as No. 5 in the singles poll. She departs Syracuse with the second-most overall victories (179) in school history.
Ramirez, meanwhile, earned All-ACC Third Team honors. She won a team-high 18 singles matches in the spring, playing her best tennis in conference duals with a 10-4 against ACC competition.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
