SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Â Jennifer Meredith has joined the Orange women's tennis team this fall as an assistant coach, head coach Younes Limam announced Tuesday. Meredith replaces longtime associate head coach Shelley George, who recently retired from the program.
Â
"I am thrilled Jennifer will be joining our coaching staff at Syracuse," Limam said. "Her work ethic, eagerness to grow and achieve, and passion for the sport will be an asset to our program, and we are excited to welcome her to the 'Cuse family."
Â
"I would like to thank Younes for this amazing opportunity," Meredith said. "Syracuse has such a rich tradition both academically and athletically, and it's a privilege to be joining the Syracuse family. I look forward to working alongside Younes and helping our student-athletes develop on and off the court."
Â
Meredith joins Syracuse after three years as an assistant coach at Missouri where she made a valuable impact which included helping the Tigers earn their first NCAA doubles tournament appearance since 2003.
Â
In her first year as an assistant with Mizzou, Meredith coached the duo of Amina Ismail and Bea Machado Santos all the way up to the number ten ranking in the ITA National Rankings, the highest at the school in over a decade.
Â
Before Mizzou, Meredith spent two years with UConn as an assistant coach where she helped coach the program to 25 wins and its first postseason victory in program history. In addition to coaching, Meredith was instrumental in drawing international recruits to UConn for the first time in program history.
Â
As a player, Meredith was a star at Tennessee. She was a three-time SEC player of the week, two-time team captain, and won over 50 singles matches. In 2011, Meredith graduated from Tennessee with a bachelor's in sports management.
