ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse won its home opener against Binghamton, 3-1, on Monday. The Bearcats scored their only goal of the night in the 18th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. Senior Massimo Ferrin quickly answered in the 23rd minute with a goal assisted by freshman Ryan Raposo. Raposo clinched the game for the Orange with goals in the 61st and 80th minutes. He finished with a career-high five points and leads the team with seven points this season.
Â
THE SERIES
The Orange and the Bulldogs will be facing each other for the first time in 34 years. The two teams have played twice before, in 1920 and 1985, and the series is split, 1-1. Yale defeated Syracuse, -1-0, in 1920, while the Orange came out on top in 1985 at the Loyola (Md.) Tournament, 4-2, in overtime.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale opens its season against Syracuse on Friday. Last season, the Bulldogs finished with a 7-6-3 mark, which is their best record since 2011. Yale has all-conference performers returning on both ends of the field. Sophomore Paolo Carroll earned second-team All-Ivy League honors a year ago, while senior Justin Lobe was an honorable mention pick after anchoring the defense.
