
Cross Country Season Opens Saturday

The 2019 Syracuse cross country season is here!
Both the men's and women's programs enter the season ranked in the top-25 of the USTFCCCA Polls, with a wealth of talent returning. They'll kickoff the season on Saturday at the Harry Lang Invitational.

Opening Meet
- Syracuse makes the short trip to Hamilton, N.Y. and Colgate to open up the season.
- Last year Nathan Henderson won the event as a sophomore, while then sophomore Stephen Schulz and freshman Joey Eovaldi finished second and third behind him.
- Abigail Spiers took the victory for the Orange women in her first collegiate action, and the 'Cuse women went 1-9 in their race. Both the Men's and Women's team grabbed first place finishes in 2018 and look to repeat this year.

- Action gets underway at 11:30 p.m. with the women's race.
- The men's race will immediately follow at 12:15 p.m.

What the Men Return:
'Cuse is coming off a 26th-place finish at NCAAs last season.
- The Orange return two top-10 finishers from last season's ACC Championships in Aidan Tooker and Joe Dragon, as well as top 20 finishers Kevin James and Nathan Henderson.
- Tooker was represented in FloTrack's individual rankings, checking in at No. 23 nationally.
What the Women Return:
- The women's team looks to continue their upward trend after taking a team-best third place at the ACC Championships last season.
- Track All-American Laura Dickinson returns to headline a deep unit as well as All-ACC teammate Rachel Bonner.
- Newcomers who could make a major impact also stand out on the roster. Amanda Vestri, a junior transfer from Iowa State, is ranked 14th in FloTrack's individual rankings in her first season for the Orange, as well as Boise State grad transfer Jordan Jacob, who has experience under her belt.
Ranking the Orange:
-The men's team was again picked to win the NCAA Northeast Regional and check in at 12th in the national polls.
- The women also are represented in the poll, nabbing the 24th spot.
- Syracuse joins NC State and Notre Dame as one-of-three ACC schools with both teams ranked in the top 25.
- Both Syracuse men and women's were picked in the top 5 of the ACC poll, the men picked second while the women are picked fourth.
