
Orange Men Win Harry Lang Invite

The Syracuse men put four in the top-five to win the Harry Lang Invitational, in what was the Orange's season opener.
Noah Beveridge, Stephen Shulz, Nathan Lawler and Matthew Scraoe took second through fifth to secure the win, while Keith McAteer took 17th to round out the Syracuse scoring. Freshman Justice Holden-Betts was the top finisher for the women, leading Syracuse to a second-place finish.
Boston University's Paul Luevano (19:45.2) won the men's race, but the deep pack of Orange right behind earned the team win. Beveridge (19:53.1), Schulz (19:54.3), Lawler (19:55.5) and Scrape (20:00.8) finished in impressive fashion over the 6.4k course. McAteer (20:48.9) and Matthew Dragon (21:37.3) rounded out the Orange competitors.
Holden-Betts crossed the line in 17:28.1, 17 second behind eventual winner Abigail Gugel of Boston Universtiy. Kelsey Potts (17:44.1), Olivia Elston (17:50.9) and Emma Wilson (17:51.0) took eighth through 10th and Ryley Higgins finished 22nd in 18:19.1 to round out the scoring. Eva Scott (18:19.1), Kayli Jones (18:31.1), Maggie Toczko (18:34.5), Abigail Walsh (18:50.6) and Elizabeth Cultra (19:28.9) also ran the 4.8k course for 'Cuse.
The men's team (31 points) outpaced Navy (44 points) for the team win. Boston University won the women's race with 26 points, while the Orange took second of the seven teams that ran with 53.
Syracuse returns to action on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
