
Trio of Orange Link Up for 2020 Rohrmax Cup in Austria

Syracuse, N.Y. – Syracuse All-American Laura Hurff, current Orange coaches Katie Gerzabek and Mike Young spent the turn of the new year at the 2020 Rohrmax Cup in Austria.
Hurff is a member of the U.S. Women's National Indoor Team and Gerzabek is an assistant coach and for the US squad. Young and the indoor men's national team went 0-3 in pool play.
With Gerzabek on the sidelines, the USA Gold squad earned a bronze medal while the USA Blue crew was seventh overall with a 1-1-2 record.
Gerzabek has been preparing the USA team for the upcoming Indoor Pan American Games that will take place at Spooky Nook Sports in March. The USWNT will face FIH Top-10 ranked indoor teams. One of Gerzabek's main responsibilities with USA Field Hockey for the 2020 Rohrmax Cup was coding and analyzing video for both the Blue and Gold teams.
Hurff joined the US Women's Indoor Team in February 2018 and is a member of the outdoor team as well but took time off during 2019. Huff was a member of Syracuse's 2015 National Championship squad that captured the first national title by a women's team in school history. A three-time NFHCA All-American, Hurff finished her SU career with 20 goals, 15 assists and 55 points.
Young serves as a volunteer assistant coach at Syracuse. Young and the Indoor USMNT will play at the 2020 Big Apple Invitational in Spring City, Pa., Feb. 28-March 1 before heading to Spooky Nook Sports for the Indoor PanAm Games March 25-29.
