CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Syracuse is back on the road to take on Virginia in Charlottesville on Friday, Oct. 30 in a rematch of last year's ACC Tournament quarterfinals. Match time is set for 8 p.m.

ORANGE UPDATE
The 'Cuse (0-2-2) is coming off a double-overtime 1-1 draw on the road against Virginia Tech last Saturday. Senior Sondre Norheim scored the lone goal for the Orange just 14 minutes into the game.

The Hokies responded in the 28th minute with a goal from Nick Blacklock, which was the final tally of the match. Redshirt sophomore Russell Shealy made his season debut in net for the Orange and recorded a career-high eight saves. Four of his stops came in overtime to help preserve the tie.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia enters Friday's game with a 1-2-1 record. Most recently, the Cavaliers lost to Notre Dame, 2-1 in double overtime.

Six different players have scored a goal for Virginia. Phillip Horton, Joan Gibert Fuertes and Kaya Ignacio are tied with three points to lead the team.

Alex Rando and Colin Shutler have split time at goalie with Shutler getting majority of the minutes. Shutler has allowed five goals while making 14 saves. Â

George Gelnovatch is in his 25th season at the helm of the Cavaliers' program. The team is 339-133-59 with two national championships during his tenure.

Syracuse and Virginia will meet for the sixth time. The Cavaliers hold a 3-1-1 advantage in the all-time series.
The last meeting took place in the 2019 ACC Tournament in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers scored on a penalty kick in the 11th minute and then again the 18th minute to open a 2-0 lead. Luther Archimede cut the deficit in half in the 70th minute, but the Orange couldn't score the equalizer in a 2-1 loss.
