The Syracuse football team (1-8) was held at bay by the Louisville defense, as the Orange fell 30-0 to the Cards on Friday night.
Louisville threw for 279 yards through the air and rushed for 134 more, while limiting 'Cuse below 150. Freshman running back Sean Tucker again led the Syracuse ground game, rushing for 93 yards.
The Orange defense held Louisville to just six points on their first three trips into 'Cuse territory, but turnovers proved costly later in the first half.
However, two fumbled kickoffs and a turnover on downs in between, allowed the Cardinals to pull ahead 20-0 heading into the half. They continued to add on in the third quarter after QB Micale Cunningham tossed a 19-yard touchdown pass to Tutu Atwell to take a 27-0 lead into the fourth quarter.
Louisville would tack on one more field goal to give the game its final result.
Defensive Back Garrett Williams came away with a remarkable interception and returned it near midfield with just under seven minutes remaining in the first quarter, Mikel Jones forced another Louisville fumble that SU recovered later in the frame and Ifeatu Melifonwu came away with an interception near the end of the half. The three turnovers brings the Orange defense's takeaway total on the year to 20, a mark that leads the nation.

The Orange will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 28, when the team hosts NC State for the home finale.
