Emily Hawryschuk is No. 2 on Inside Lacrosse's list of the 2021 Top 50 Men's and Women's Players in College Lacrosse. She is the highest-ranked women's player on the list, which was released throughout the week. In addition, Sarah Cooper is No. 38 in the rankings.
Â
Last season, Inside Lacrosse honored Hawryschuk as its Clutch Player of the Year and as a first-team All-American. She led the Orange with 39 goals and 46 points. Hawryschuk scored five or more goals in five of eight games in the shortened 2020 season and posted seven or more points three times.
Â
The Victor, N.Y. native ranked fifth in the nation in points (46), eighth in points per game (5.75) and second in goals (32) and goals per game (4.88) in the final 2020 NCAA Division I statistics. She helped the Orange post a 7-1 record and a No. 4 ranking in the final polls.
Â
Hawryschuk returns this spring, taking advantage of the NCAA's ruling that spring sport student-athletes who had their seasons impacted by COVID-19 would be granted eligibility relief.
Â
Cooper helped the Syracuse defense lead the nation with a 7.00 goals-against average in 2020. She led the Orange with 12 caused turnovers. Cooper was the 2019 ACC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on Inside Lacrosse's Media All-America Second Team in each of the past two seasons.
