
Orange Pick Up Wins at Marc Deneault Invite

The last regular season indoor meet for the Syracuse track and field team was a successful one, with 'Cuse coming away with a number of victories at Cornell's Marc Deneault Invitational.
The Orange swept the 3000-meter runs, as Silas Derfel men's race by a full five seconds, crossing the line in 8:41.13. Kate Kemnitz took the victory in the women's race by an even larger margin, finishing in 10:33.41, 13 seconds ahead of the field. Teammates Maggie Toczko (10:50.88) and Eva Scott (10:53.86) were third and fourth, respectively.
The Orange put a deep field in the 60-meter hurdles, with all four 'Cuse runners reaching the final. Tyler Garland picked up the win in 8.00, followed by Jamil Adams (8.08) in third. Naseem Smith (8.35) and Andrew Aguilera (8.40) were fifth and sixth. 'Cuse alum Ramon Sosa was second in 8.06 seconds.
Shaleah Colaire followed suit in the women's race, winning in a personal-best time of 8.52 seconds. Colaire then came back to win the rarely raced women's 500-meter run.
Chris Tucker was the top qualifier in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.87 seconds, before taking second in the final (6.89). Aja Davis and Dennisha Page were the top-two collegiate finishers in the women's race. SU alum and two-time Olympian Flings Owusu-Agyapong was the winner in 7.42 seconds, followed by Gemma Acheampong (7.49). Davis crossed the line in 7.50 seconds, followed closely by Page in 7.52.
Kelsey Potts and Abigail Walsh finished in the top-three of the women's mile. Potts was the winner in 5:14.56, with Walsh taking third less than a second behind. Joey Eovaldi (4:31.01) finished eighth in the mile, with Connor Preston (4:13.27) taking ninth. Syracuse sophomore Michael Phillips won the event while competing unattached in a time of 4:13.59.
Dasia Pressley won the 300 for the women in 39.45 seconds. Bearett Tarris won the 600 in 1:42.45.
Austin Rucker (1:08.24) won the 500, with Cameron Bailey taking sixth. Jordan Davenport crossed the line in third in the 300 with a time of 35.68 seconds.
Now, the ACC Championships await the Orange this weekend.
