
Orange, Cavaliers Meet in ACC Tournament Thursday

Eighth-seeded Syracuse (15-14, 9-9) will face No. 9 seed Virginia (13-16, 8-10) in the 2020 ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C., on Thursday, March 5 at 2 p.m. Thursday's game will be live on Regional Sport Networks (RSN) or YES Network in the Syracuse area.

Syracuse is on the hunt for its first ACC Tournament title and looks to avenge a 16-point loss to UVA earlier this season. In their lone meeting, the Cavaliers held 'Cuse leading scorer Kiara Lewis to just 2 points in a 57-41 victory over the Orange. Lewis is third in the ACC in scoring, averaging 17.9 points per game. The Chicago native recently earned First-Team All-ACC honors for her performance this season.

The Orange are looking to snap a three-game skid and rebound from an 88-81 loss to Boston College in their final regular season game. Three 'Cuse players recorded double-digit scoring efforts, with Lewis and Gabrielle Cooper each putting up 18 against the Eagles. Cooper is averaging 12.8 points per game through the last four regular season contests, and has recorded consecutive double-digit scoring performances three times this season. Emily Engstler has been dominant on the boards for the Orange. The sophomore ranks third in the ACC in rebounding, averaging 9.4 per game.

The Cavaliers are coming off a 75-64 loss to No.8 NC State in its final regular season contest. Virginia senior Jocelyn Willoughby leads the ACC in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game, and has recorded eight double-doubles this season. UVA also features a trio of freshman coming off double-digit performances against the Wolfpack, led by a 13-point showing from redshirt freshman guard Amandine Toi. Kylie Kornegay-Lucas and Carole Miller contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Syracuse is 6-6 all-time at the ACC Tournament. The Orange have never been seeded lower than eight since joining the league prior to the 2013-14 season. Last season, Syracuse was the five-seed and earned wins over Virginia (12) and Miami (4) to reach the ACC Tournament Semifinals for the second time in four years.
