Orange begin Battle4Atlantis Saturday

The Syracuse women's basketball team begins its quest at the Bad Boy Mowers Women's Battle 4 Atlantis on Saturday against No. 23 South Florida. Fans can watch live on FloHoops through a streaming subscription. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.Â
The first-ever Women's Battle 4 Atlantis features eight teams form eight major basketball conferences, one each from the Atlantic Coast (Syracuse), BIG EAST (UConn), SEC (South Carolina), Big Ten (Minnesota), Big 12 (Oklahoma), Pac-12 (Oregon), American (South Florida) and MAAC (Buffalo).Â
Syracuse enter's the tournament 2-1 on the season coming off a 79-60 home win over Morgan State (0-4). The Orange have four players averaging double figures in scoring with Teisha Hyman leading the way with 14.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Hyman's coming off a career-high 23 point performance Wednesday night while Christianna Carr is entering Saturday's game coming off the team's first double double of the season with 17 points and 15 rebounds while tallying her 1,000th career point.Â
South Florida is 2-1 overall with wins over UTRGV and Alabama State and is coming off a 52-49 road loss at Tennessee on Monday night. The Bulls are led by Elena Tsineke and Sydni Harvey who average 15.5 and 14.7 points per game. Bethy Munguna is the leading rebounder with 12.0 points per game.Â
The winner of Saturday's game will advance to face the winner of Saturday's first game between UConn and Minnesota while the loser will play the Game 1 losing team in the backdraw bracket.Â
All games of the Bad Boy Mowers Women's Battle 4 Atlantis will be streamed on FloHoops. The third place and championship games on Monday will be televised on ESPN2/ESPNU.Â
