Junior center Jesse Edwards had a career-high 21 points and all five starters scored in double digits to help Syracuse (3-2) defeat Arizona State (2-4), 92-84, in the second day of the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in Paradise Island, Bahamas.
Senior guard Buddy Boeheim had 23 points, senior forward Cole Swider had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and junior guard Joseph Girard III netted 16 points.
Graduate guard Kimani Lawerence led the Sun Devils with a double-double, recording 11 points and 13 rebounds.Â
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
After 15 minutes of back-and-forth play, Jesse Edwards sparked an 18-2 Syracuse stretch to close out the first half. Edwards contributed two dunks to the drive, Swider had two 3-pointers and Girard III netted five points during the stretch that provided the Orange with a 48-30 lead at the intermission.
JIMMY BOEHEIM STARTS IT AGAIN
Graduate forward Jimmy Boeheim extended his remarkable streak of scoring first for the Orange, accomplishing the feat in the fifth straight contest. His basket knotted the game at 2-2, one of seven times the score was tied in the first half. By the break, Buddy Boeheim had 17 points and Syracuse had an 18-point margin.

EDWARDS HELPS ORANGE HOLD OFF SUN DEVILS
Edwards emerged in the second half, easily surpassing his previous career-best showing of 11 points. He had consecutive Syracuse baskets and Swider added a 3-pointer to put the Orange ahead 83-69 with 3:55 left in regulation.
An 8-1 Sun-Devil run, keyed by two 3-pointers from Luther Muhammad, cut the Syracuse margin to 84-77 with 2:47 left. A later 3-pointer from Jay Heath cut it to seven points again, 88-81, with 1:49 on the clock. Swider than helped secure the triumph with a traditional three-point play by Swider.
