Syracuse fell 31-14 to No.20 Pittsburgh (10-2, 7-1 ACC) in the Dome finale on Saturday night. The Orange finish the regular season at 5-7, four wins better than their 2020 campaign.

Syracuse led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter thanks to a 12-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Shrader to Courtney Jackson. Jackson finished with two touchdowns and a career-high seven catches for 73 yards.

Pitt tied the game 7-7 when Kenny Pickett met Rodney Hammond Jr. with a 15-yard touchdown pass at the 7:25 mark in the second quarter to even the game, then the Panthers took the lead for good after notching a 25-yard touchdown pass from Pickett to Jordan Addison just two minutes later.

The score began a run of 28 unanswered points after Syracuse's opening touchdown to lead 28-7 before Shrader found Jackson in the end zone for a second time with two minutes to play in the third quarter to make it a 28-14 ball game. Shrader had his most efficient passing game of the season, completing 17-of-24 passes for 217 yards.

Pittsburgh tacked on one more field goal in the fourth quarter to give the game a 31-14 result, thanks to Sam Scarton's 26-yard try.

Defensively, Syracuse held Pitt to 31 points, marking just the third time in 12 games the Panthers were held below 34. Mikel Jones led the way with a career-high 17 tackles. Darian Chestnut had his third interception of the season with 11:15 left in the game when he picked off Pickett's pass in the red zone.

Freshmen linebackers Marlowe Wax and Stefon Thompson each had career marks with 10 tackles a piece.

The game was the final Dome contest for an outstanding group of seniors. Josh Black, Airon Servais, Kingsley Jonathan, Cody Roscoe, McKinley Williams, Andre Szmyt, Abdul Adams and Erik Slater each played their final game in Orange.
