
Orange Shake Off the Rust with Win Over Colgate

Syracuse (3-4) earned a 79-57 win over Colgate (1-5) on Sunday afternoon in the Carrier Dome. The win snapped a three-game losing streak and gave the Orange their third win of the season at home. Chrislyn Carr had her second consecutive 20-point game shooting 9-for-15 and added four rebounds, four assists and four steals. Najé Murray had a season high 17 points shooting 50 percent from the field while adding three steals.
Colgate jumped out to an early lead but an 8-1 run by the Orange put Syracuse on top for the first time, 17-16, with just over two minutes to go in the first frame. 'Cuse led by four, 22-18, after the opening quarter.
The Orange held the Raiders to just seven points in the second quarter to lead 43-25 at halftime. Syracuse's offense was rolling shooting 54.1 percent from the field in the first half.
Syracuse used another 21-point quarter in the third to go ahead by 27 with 10 minutes to go in regulation.
Colgate had its biggest offensive quarter in the fourth outscoring Syracuse 20-15 but the Raiders were unable to close the gap as Syracuse closed out the 79-57 win with ease.
Joining Chrislyn Carr and Murray in double figures was Teisha Hyman who had 16 points (7-for-12) with five rebounds, four assists and a steal.
Alaysia Styles had a career-high 15 rebounds, seven offensive, in the win while adding six points.
The Orange return home to host No. 23 Ohio State (5-0) on Wednesday, Dec. 1 in the B1G/ACC Challenge. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. on ACC Network.
