Chestnut Up for Shaun Alexander Award

Orange freshman DB Duce Chestnut is up for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, being one-of-37 players named to the award's watch list on Tuesday.
Chestnut is one-of-six players from the ACC on the watch list.
The rookie from Camden, New Jersey has started all-nine games at corner for the Orange this season. He is just the third Orange defensive back to earn a starting nod in his rookie season opener in the last-40 years, joining Andre Cisco (2018) and Markus Paul (1985).
Chestnut has two interceptions, 36 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and two sacks through his first nine games, he also has five pass breakups.
This is the fourth year of the award, which is presented at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala. Previous winners include Clemson's Trevor Lawrence, Memphis' Kenneth Gainwell and Alabama's Will Anderson Jr.
10 semifinalists for the award will be announced on Dec. 2, while three finalists will be unveiled on Dec. 21. The award will be announced on Monday, January 10 at the awards gala hosted by the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City on March 11, 2022.
