
Orange Earn Sixth Straight Win

Chrislyn Carr tallied a squad-best 18 points and Syracuse (8-4) won its sixth straight contest Saturday by beating Maryland-Baltimore County (1-9), 82-50, in the Carrier Dome.Â
Carr, who scored in double digits for the eighth consecutive contest, added four assists, two rebounds and a steal. The other four starters also reached double-figure point totals. Christianna Carr had 17 points and eight rebounds, Naje Murray notched 15 points and seven rebounds, Teisha Hyman had 14 points, seven assists and five steals, and Alaysia Styles had 12 points and seven rebounds.
The Orange opened the contest by scoring the first 12 points, a run ignited by a 3-pointer from Chrislyn Carr. Syracuse held the Retrievers scoreless for the first 4:24 of the game and finished the first quarter with a 26-10 advantage.

The Orange only grew their lead in the second, closing the half up 44-23. 'Cuse shot a season-high 51.6 percent from the field in the first half, while holding UMBC to 38.2 percent. Onome-Juliet Esadah had 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the UMBC offense.
Syracuse's defensive pressure was a huge factor in the outcome. The Orange forced 27 turnovers by the Retrievers.
