
Orange Face Army in Home Opener

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — After getting its first win of the season, Syracuse women's tennis comes home to play Army at 2 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Drumlins Tennis Center.

LAST TIME OUT
The 'Cuse opened ACC play with a win against Boston College last Saturday. The victory was also its first of the season after starting the season with a pair of losses at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Orange took the doubles point with two of their squads led by graduate students Natalie Novotna and Miranda Ramirez. Both veterans played alongside freshmen to earn the point.

On the singles side, freshman Viktoriya Kanapatskaya, sophomore Polina Kozyreva, Ramirez and Novotna picked up victories to seal the 5-2 win.

SCOUTING ARMY
The Black Knights are 0-1 after losing their season opener to Boston College. Despite the early defeat, Army is coming off a 13-4 record in 2019-20.

All four of Army's wins leaders from a year ago are returning. Senior Hannah Boubel and juniors Paola Bou, Sam DiMaio and Stephanie Dolehide all notched seven victories last season. The doubles combo of DiMaio and senior Ana Joyner went 9-1 a year ago and is returning for another season.

WHAT'S NEXT
After its home opener, the 'Cuse hits the road to play ACC rivals Louisville and Notre Dame on Friday Feb. 19 and Sunday Feb. 21, respectively.
