2/25/2021 11:46:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Five Orange players scored in double figures in Syracuse University's 92-75 win against Boston College in the Carrier Dome on Thursday. Senior Tiana Mangakahia led the effort with 19 points and seven assists, while junior Emily Engstler added 18 points and eight rebounds. The victory extends the 2020-21 home court win streak to eight, and improves the season record to 12-6 overall and 9-6 ACC before the final game of the regular season on Sunday against second-ranked NC State in the Dome.
Â
"Emily (Engstler) came off the bench and had 18 points and eight rebounds," said Syracuse head coach Quentin Hillsman. "She's going to be Sixth Player of the Year in this conference. She deserves to have the award, to be honest. This isn't even close."
Â
Freshman Priscilla Williams finished with 15 points, while seniors Kiara Lewis and Digna Strautmane contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively. Williams recorded her first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Â
Syracuse started the game with a 10-0 run and never relinquished the lead. Strautmane scored seven points in the first quarter to lead the Orange to a 20-16 advantage after 10 minutes.
Â
The Orange led the Eagles (6-11, 2-11) by 12 at the half, 43-31, and opened its largest lead of the game, 66-45, with less than four minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Â
Of Note:
Sunday's game against #2 NC State is Syracuse's Senior Day and Play4Kay game. Tipoff is 12 pm and the game will be televised on the ACC Network.
