Q&A with Digna Strautmane

As the Syracuse Orange prepare to host Wake Forest in the Carrier Dome on Thursday, Feb. 4 (6 p.m., ACC Network), we continue our Q&A series to help you get to know your Orange! In this edition we talk with junior forward Digna Strautmane!

Looking back on your four years at Syracuse, how do you want to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as a person that will lead by example.

What was your favorite game memory?
Winning the Cancun Challenge. That tournament was amazing.

What are your plans after graduation?
Hopefully playing professionally.

Where is your favorite place on campus?
The Barnes Center

You are known for taking early morning walks to the Melo Center to get shots up. Who inspired your work ethic?
Our former assistant coach Adeniyi Amadou

On Tuesday you scored your 1,000th career point, what does that milestone mean to you?
It's a good feeling to be one of the few players at Syracuse that has done it. I'm happy the coaches gave me the opportunity to do it.

Who is your favorite athlete?
Blake Griffin

What is it like playing for Coach Q?
He teaches you discipline not just on the court but also off the court.

You've played on some talented teams during your career at Syracuse, what makes this year's team so special.
Everyone is talented and they are great people.

What is your favorite movie?
The Proposal

Where is your favorite place to vacation?
Home in Latvia. I haven't been there for a long time.

Who is the funniest person on the team?
Emily, Maeva, Kamilla, Maud and Teisha

Your sister also played Division I College basketball. Who would win in a game of one-on-one, you or Paula?
Full court she would but half court I.

What is your favorite book?
Beautiful Disaster

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Loaded baked potatoes or ice cream.
