#4 Orange Prepped for Busy Weekend vs. Top-10 Teams

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse men's rowing team hits the water for three races against top-10 teams this weekend on the Charles River in Boston, Mass. The Orange will begin their weekend with a head-to-head race against No. 3 Northeastern Saturday, May 1 in the morning and will have a quick turnaround to race No. 5 Boston University in the evening. 'Cuse wraps up the weekend Sunday, May 2 when it faces No. 9 Wisconsin.
Syracuse and Boston University's varsity eight crews will race for the Conlan Cup for the first time since 2019 on Saturday. Syracuse last won the Conlan Cup in 2017.

Northeastern has only raced once this spring in which the Howlin' Huskies earned a five-second win over Boston University on April 10.
Boston University's varsity eight bounced back from its season-opening loss to Northeastern with a dramatic win over No. 7 Navy. The Terries came from a full length down over the final 500 meters to edge the Midshipmen.
No. 9 Wisconsin has yet to race a team from the northeast this spring. The Badgers have raced Marietta College and Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) but will face their first true test of the season this weekend.
About the Conlan Cup
Syracuse and Boston University have been racing for the Conlan Cup every year since 1987, when the trophy was created. The race is named after Bill Conlan, the man who founded the Boston University rowing program. The Terriers are the current holders of the trophy. The Orange last won the Conlan Cup in 2017. There was no Conlan Cup race in 2019 due to the season being canceled for the COVID-19 pandemic.
