#18 Syracuse to Race Northeastern on Saturday

The 18th-ranked Syracuse University women's rowing team will race Northeastern on Saturday, April 10th in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Orange and Huskies will compete in four races beginning at 12 pm using the Saratoga Rowing Associate Boathouse as headquarters for race day. The third varsity eight will race first, followed by the varsity eight at 12:20 pm, second varsity eight at 12:40 pm and the varsity four at 1 pm. Fans are invited to watch the races live on Instagram (@cusewrowing).

Syracuse and Northeastern, along with Pennsylvania, competed annually for the Orange Challenge Cup from 1979 through 2019, with the exception of 1994. The Orange varsity eight has beaten Northeastern for the past seven seasons, including winning the Orange Challenge Cup in 2017, 2018 and 2019 when the three teams competed for the cup within the Doc Hosea Invite.

Last week against #11 Rutgers, the Orange varsity four beat the Scarlet Knights. The Orange finished the race in 7:16.3, more than five seconds ahead of Rutgers (7:21.5) on Mercer Lake (NJ). The Syracuse varsity four included stroke Eliza Yager, third-seat Katherine Ryan, two-seat Margaret Sweeney, bow Junior Ognovich and coxswain Emma Dziedzic. Rutgers won the remaining races, including the varsity eight, second varsity eight, third varsity eight and second varsity four. It was the first competition of the 2021 season for the Orange.
