
Vestri Wins Again; More PRs at Virginia Grand Prix

Amanda Vestri continued her winning ways, taking the top spot in the 5000-meters at the Virginia Grand Prix. She bested the field by 19 seconds.
Vestri paced teammates Jordan Jacob (16:47.94) and Reilly Zink (17:02.33) across the line in eighth and ninth overall.
Freshman Ashley Wallace turned in a PR of 14.07 in the 100-meter hurdles, in what was a runner-up performance. Shaleah Colaire wasn't far behind in fifth. In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Anthony Vazquez had a season-best performance in 14.20. Vazquez was fourth and teammate Jamil Adams turned in a new PR of 14.53 in eighth.
Adams and Colaire also raced in the 400-meter hurdles. Adams was fourth in the men's race (53.30) and Colaire took fifth in 1:00.57.
The personal bests continued in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Justus Holden-Betts ran to her best time in the event in 10:32.27. She took seventh in the 16-runner field. Aidan Tooker raced in the men's steeplechase taking sixth.
Eunice Boateng was the top collegiate finisher in the 200, crossing the line in 23.23 (second overall). She also placed seventh in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 11.94 seconds.
Syracuse had a deep field in the men's 5k. Joe Dragon was the top 'Cuse finisher in an outdoor personal best time of 14:04.39, which was ninth overall. Sam Lawler (14:25.48/15th) and Ethan Wechsler (14:30.93/18th) also PRed, followed by Kevin James (14:44.53), Nathan Lawler (14:49.28) and Joey Eovaldi (14:58.18), who also raced for the Orange.
Abigail Spiers turned in a PR later in the meet in the 1500-meter run. Her time of 4:28.07 was good for 14th overall. Emma Eastman (4:32.43) took 21st. Simon Smith (4:03.24/11th), Matthew Scrape (4:08.53/20th) and Alex Comerford (4:08.53/21st) also competed.
The Orange also ran at the Mountaineer Twilight Invitational at West Virginia on Saturday.
Ellie Lawler was the runner-up in the women's 5k as Syracuse placed two in the top-four. Olivia Elston was fourth, while Emma Wilson took 10th. The Orange also had two in the top-six of the men's race, with Gabriel Planty (fourth) and Matthew Dragon (sixth) racing for 'Cuse.
Kevin Robertson (3:51.94) was fourth in the men's 1500, and teammate Kayli Jones was 12th in the women's race.
Kennedy Tarley took fifth in the women's 400, crossing the line in 58.87. Teammates Lily Worden and Mariana McManus were 11th and 16th, respectively.
In the 800, Bearett Tarris led the way in 11th, while the Orange's Keiana Mitchell and Sydney Brackett weren't far behind in 13th and 16th. In the men's race, James Proctor finished eighth.
