The 11th-ranked Syracuse University women's rowing team finished third at the 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship on Saturday at Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina. Third-ranked Virginia won the ACC title by winning all five races to score 99 points, while 17th-ranked Duke finished second with 84 points. The Orange scored 81 points. Since Syracuse joined the ACC in 2013-14, the Orange has placed in the top three every year, finishing second twice and third five times.
Senior Meg Varcoe earned All-ACC First Team honors and fifth-year senior Lucy Pearce earned All-ACC Second Team recognition.
"This is the first time in program history that every student-athlete on the team leaves the ACC Championship with a medal. That is meaningful in itself. When you add to that he challenges we have all handled this year with COVID, it makes it more special," said head coach Luke McGee.
