5/29/2021 12:47:00 PM | Men's Rowing
For the first time in head coach Dave Reischman's tenure, the Syracuse men's rowing team saw three boats reach the Grand Finals of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association's (IRA) National Championship Regatta. The varsity eight finished fourth overall while the second varsity eight finished in fifth and the varsity four placed seventh.
It marks the second-straight IRA regatta that three Orange crews placed in the top-10 and the first time in over 20 years three boats qualified for the grand finals.
Syracuse's 2V8+ started the morning finishing in 6:31.158 behind Washington, Dartmouth, California and Northeastern. In the varsity eight, the Orange finished fourth (6:10.882) behind three crews they hadn't raced in the regular season. Washington placed first (5:59.707) in front of California (2nd place) and Dartmouth (3rd place). In the final race of the day Syracuse's varsity four finished in 7:27.452 placing seventh in the grand final.
