Five Orange will compete in the Olympic Trials tomorrow
Two of the 16 semifinalists in the men's 110-meter hurdles at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials are Orange.
Freddie Crittenden III and Jarret Eaton both advanced to Saturday in the event. The two semifinal heats will be at 9:03 p.m. eastern, with the top three in each heat, plus the next-two fastest times advancing to the finals later that night.
Crittenden III, who has the Olympic standard in the event, ran a 13.43 seconds and earned an automatic spot in the semis through placing in the top-three of his heat. Eaton did the same in the next heat, finishing in 13.51 seconds.
The hurdlers will cap an already busy day for the Orange at Olympic trials. Sarah Pagano and Paige Stoner will race at 1 p.m. ET in the women's 10,000-meter finals. In between the two races, Shaleah Colaire will take to the track in Montreal in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
Two Syracuse track and field alumni have already punched tickets to the Tokyo Olympics. Katie Zaferes was selected to Team USA in the triathlon. Justyn Knight is already on Team Canada. He was exempt from competing in the trials due to having the Olympic standard and ranking in the top-two in Canada in an event. Knight currently holds Olympic standard times and the requisite ranking in two separate events, the 1,500-meters and the 5,000-meters with PR times of 3:33.41 and 12:51.93 this year, respectively.
Eaton was Syracuse's first NCAA track and field champion, winning the 60-meter hurdles in 2012. He has since won the 2016 U.S. Indoor Championships and was the silver medalist at the 2018 World Indoor Championships.
Â
Crittenden III was a two-time NCAA runner-up in 2016 and 2017 in the 60-meter hurdles. He is a four-time All-American and four-time All-ACC performer with the Orange.
Â
Stoner is a five-time ACC Champion at 'Cuse and five-time USTFCCCA All-American. She is Syracuse's top finisher ever in women's cross country and has competed in everything from the steeplechase to the marathon at the championship level.
Â
Pagano was a USTFCCCA First Team All-American in the 10,000-meters as a redshirt senior in 2014, while taking seventh at the NCAA Championships. The Ringwood, N.J. native now races professionally for adidas.
Â
Colaire just wrapped up her second season with the Orange. She was an NCAA East Prelim qualifier in the 400-meter hurdles.
Martin Hehir was the fifth member of the Orange at the US Track and Field Olympic Trials, having ran last week in the men's 10k.
