7/14/2021 3:40:00 PM | Ice Hockey
Syracuse senior defenseman Jessica DiGirolamo is one of 43 players invited to participate in Canada's BFL National Women's Development Team Summer Camp. The Orange captain is one of 12 defensemen who will join six goalies and 22 forwards at the camp, scheduled for July 29 to August 9. The group will be split into two teams for practices and intrasquad games at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. The camp will also feature two scrimmages against Canada's National Team between August 7 to 9.
A familiar face in the Hockey Canada program having competed in Hockey Canada's BFL National Women's Development Team Selection Camp in August 2019, Digirolamo is one of two players from the College Hockey America Conference to be invited to camp. Mercyhurst forward Alexa Vasko is the other.
Â
Syracuse's career leader for goals scored by a defenseman (27), DiGirolamo earned 2021 CHA All-Tournament Team and CHA All-Conference First Team honors after leading the Orange in scoring in the COVID-19 abbreviate season. The Mississauga, Ontario native tied the Syracuse single-season record for goals by a defenseman (10) and the Orange career record for points by a defenseman (76). She ranks in the top 10 on Syracuse's career record lists for points (76) and assists (49).
