'Cuse Connections: Katie Zaferes
8/13/2021 9:54:00 AM | Track and Field
Syracuse alum Katie Zaferes '12 made history at the Tokyo Olympics, winning bronze in the women's triathlon and then winning silver in the first-ever mixed triathlon relay for Team USA. She is the first Orange alum to medal twice in the same Olympic Games in 85 years, and accomplished it all in a year of pandemic difficulties and overcoming the unexpected loss of her father in April.
In this post-Olympics edition of the 'Cuse Connections interview series, Brian Higgins talks with Zaferes about her Olympic experience, the challenges she overcame, and her lasting connection to Syracuse.
