UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.- Syracuse battled 11th-ranked Penn State on Sunday in University Park, Pa. The Orange trailed 1-0 at the half. In the second half Syracuse gave up two goals for the 3-0 final score. Redshirt junior Russel Shealy recorded four saves. The Orange outshot the Nittany Lions 15-13.

"Overall, there were a lot of positives and things to work on that are correctable", said head coach Ian McIntyre.

Penn State's Peter Mangione scored the first goal in the fourth minute of the first half. The Nittany Lions added two more goals in the second half. Pierre Reedy scored the second goal off a penalty kick. Penn State's third goal was scored by Andrew Privett off an assist from Seth Kuhn, who also assisted the first goal.

Syracuse returns home to host a pair of games against Georgetown on Friday (Sept. 3), at 7 p.m. and Niagara on Monday (Sept. 6), at 7 p.m.
