SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse limited #2 Georgetown to one goal in a back-and-forth match that resulted in a 1-0 Hoyas win. After neither team scored in first half Georgetown netted a goal in the 58th minute of play to secure the win. Six different Orange players recorded a shot on goal as Syracuse out-shot the Hoyas, 6-3.
"There is a lot to take away from this game" said head coach Ian McIntyre, whose team is 1-2 overall. "We showed we are a strong team with a great deal of potential ahead of us this season"
Georgetown sophomore midfielder John Franks scored for the Hoyas (3-0) on an assist from junior midfielder Dante Polvara.
The Orange host Niagara on Monday (Sept. 6) at 7 p.m. and then travel to Virginia on Friday (Sept. 10).
Admission to the SU Soccer Stadium is free. All fans attending games must adhere to Syracuse University's COVID-19 policy, which can be found here.
