SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse graduate student Lila Nazarian has added Academic All-American to her list of accomplishments. Nazarian is a member of the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Third Team. She is just the fourth player in program history to earn the honor.
Â
The Baltimore, Maryland native helped the Orange women's lacrosse team return to Championship Weekend for the eighth time in 2021 where it defeated No. 2 Northwestern to make its third appearance in the national final. Nazarian played in all 21 games and recorded 18 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. The defender helped the Orange hold their opponents to less than 10 goals in 10 contests in 2021.
Â
Nazarian has also been recognized for her work in the classroom and in the community. She earned the NCAA Elite 90 Award for women's lacrosse for having the highest cumulative GPA among the student-athletes competing at Championship Weekend. Nazarian also earned the One Love Foundation's YRL Unsung Hero Award for her work in the Syracuse community and was selected to the All-ACC Academic Team.
Â
Nazarian earned her bachelor's degree in citizenship and civic engagement and political science and a Master's degree in public administration.
Â
The team was selected from a ballot of nominees from 14 different sports who had previously been named to the All-District squads. Each nominee must have a minimum GPA of 3.3 coupled with on-field accolades.
