SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Head Coach Younes Limam today announced a busy fall slate for the Syracuse women's tennis team. The Orange, coming off their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance last spring, will begin the program's 47th year of play on Sept. 17 at the Columbia Invitational in New York City.
Â
Syracuse will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for the ITA Northeast Regionals (Oct. 1-3) following the opening tournament. The Orange have had success in their last two trips to regionals, with Miranda Ramirez reaching the semifinals in 2019, and the duo of Sofya Treshcheva and Sofya Golubovskaya winning the doubles crown in 2018. The team will compete at the ITA Northeast Super Regional Tournament on Oct. 14-17.
Â
In between regional play, returning All-American Viktoriya Kanapatskaya will travel to Charleston, S.C. to compete in the ITA Women's All-American Championship. Kanapatskaya wrapped up her freshman campaign ranked No. 20 after emerging as an ACC First-Team player. Singles play will begin Oct. 6.
Â
The Orange's fall schedule continues with the group's regional champions traveling to the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif. from Nov. 4-7. Those not selected to compete for championships will wrap up the fall in New York with the Buffalo Invitational on the same weekend.
Â
Coach Limam's 2021-22 squad features five returners, including the nationally ranked sophomore Kanapatskaya. 2018 Regional Doubles champion Sofya Treshcheva enters her senior season. Zeynep Erman, who won both matches she appeared in against No. 1 North Carolina, returns as for her third year. Junior Polina Kozyreva will look to build off a sophomore season that featured a five-match winning streak. Sophomore Ines Fonte rounds out the returners.
