SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Freshmen Miyuka Kimoto and Shiori Ito each won their singles matches and paired for a win at No.2 doubles to lead Syracuse women's tennis to a 5-2 victory against Brown on Saturday, Jan. 22. The Orange are now 2-0 on the season.

Kimoto and Ito defeated Brown's Julia Newman and Olivia Mariotti, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles, while sophomores Ines Fonte and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya posted a 6-3 victory against Britany Lau and Gabby Soliman in the No. 3 slot to give the Orange a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

Junior Polina Kozyreva kept the momentum going for Syracuse as she recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Kimoto, Fonte and Ito followed with singles victories to give the Orange the win.

Syracuse looks to remain unbeaten when it hosts Penn State on Sunday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Drumlins Tennis Club. The match will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. At this time, fans are welcome at the Drumlins Tennis Club for Orange home matches. Admission is free.
