
Seven Event Wins Headline Kane Invite for 'Cuse

'Cuse continued a busy weekend on the track Saturday at the Kane Invitational, hosted by Cornell. Syracuse's strong showing had the squad post seven event wins on the afternoon.
Jaheem Hayles (7.87) and Naseem Smith (8.00) took the top-two spots in the men's 60-meter hurdles. David Peters (8.22) and Isaiah Lewis 8.35 were in fourth and fifth - Lewis ran to a time of 8.25 in the prelims for a better mark on the day – and Xayvion Perkins (8.49) finished seventh, to give the Orange five of the top-seven spots in the event.
Shaleah Colaire won the women's race in the event, finishing in 8.58 seconds. CJ Fox (9.18), Kirstyn Schecter (9.49) and Sheridan McGadden (9.77) were third through fifth.
'Cuse picked up its third and fourth-straight wins on the track in the 60-meter dashes, right after the hurdle victories. In the women's race, Kahniya James cruised to a win in 7.62 seconds, followed by Colaire (7.81) in fourth just moments after her win in the hurdles. Kaleia Arrington (7.94) finished ninth, just missing qualifying for the final.
The men went 1-2 in the 60 as well. Trei Thorogood crossed the line in 6.82 seconds, while teammate Sean Tucker was a tenth of a second behind in second.
Jana Riley won the women's 400 with a time of 1:00.12. Mariama McManus took eighth, seven seconds behind. In the men's race, Perkins took ninth in 53:34.
Another win on the day came from Kevin Robertson in the men's mile, winning the race by 13 seconds. He finished in 4:10.15.
In the women's mile, Caroline Kirby took fourth overall, corssing the line in 5:17.19. Bearett Tarris (5.26.02) and Maddie Heintz (5.27.56), were right behind in sixth and eighth, respectively.
In the high jump, Olivia Etienvre placed sixth, clearing 1.55 meters.
The Orange wrapped up the day with one more sound victory, winning the 4x400-meter relay by nearly 15 seconds. The group of Kennedy Tarley, Eunice Boateng, Riley and Colaire finished in 3:55.05, 14.91 seconds ahead of second place Binghamton.
SU continues its action Sunday in Boston, as some members of the team will compete on the men's day of the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
