How it Happened
- Boston College jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with just over five minutes elapsed on Littlefield's first of the season.
- The Orange tied things up at 1-1 as Comans scored a signature diving goal with 80 seconds left in the first quarter. 'Cuse took its first lead of the day as de Vries laid her stick down for a tip-in goal on a feed from the corner by Joy Haarman.
- Four minutes later, the Eagles pulled even again at 2-2 on a strike from Arteta Milagros, who missed on her first shot but snuck the second attempt home.
- Taking advantage of a 5-0 corner advantage in the first half, van den Nieuwenhof scored a back-handed, top-shelf goal to regain a 3-2 lead into the break. De Vries provided the assist as Syracuse had its first multi-goal first half since Sept. 16 against Duke.
- The best second-half team in the conference, the Orange wasted little time doubling their lead as Haarman knocked home a coast-to-coast play with Lana Hamilton sliding a pass into the circle. Haarman broke down BC's netminder before scoring an empty net goal.
- The Orange struck again in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter as Comans went five-hole on the BC keeper, taking a backdoor pass from Laura Graziosi. Willemijn Boogert tripled the lead with her seventh of the season as Sabine van den Eijnden took a rip that Boogert got a flat stick on for a 6-2 'Cuse lead and a final score.
- The Orange controlled the pace of play, ripping off 23 total shots, scoring on six of the 11 chances on goal.
- Corners were even as each team earned seven. Syracuse did not allow a corner until deep in the third quarter while taking five in the first half.
- It was the fourth game this season the Orange hit for six goals and the first time since a 6-0 win over Dartmouth at home.
- The Orange improved to 3-0 at neutral site games this season while winning their third-straight against Boston College and bumping the 'Cuse record to 27-10 against the Eagles.
- De Vries scored the 38th goal of her Orange career and now sits just two back from a three-way tie for sixth all-time. She has 94 career points, ranking seventh all-time at 'Cuse with Julie Williamson and Yvonne Milionis.
- Comans' 16 goals this season are tied for 13th in a single season with Megan Koons' 1997 campaign.
- Syracuse has bounced back well this season, now 4-0 when coming off a loss while also improving to 7-4 on the year against top-25 opponents. Syracuse is 13-4 when playing games decided by at least three goals and is a clean 10-0 when scoring four or more goals.
- The Orange take on No. 1 North Carolina Wednesday afternoon at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.
- The Orange look to avenge a setback early this season against North Carolina, this time on neutral ground.
- Game time is set for 1 p.m. on ACC Network. Tickets can be found here.
