Meet the Orange: #15 Asia Strong
11/2/2022 10:39:00 AM | Women's Basketball
In the latest episode of Meet the Orange, graduate student Asia Strong discusses her choice to attend Syracuse and join Coach Jack for her final year of eligibility, getting baptized over the summer and starting basketball at the age of seven with influence from her family.
Strong, a 6-foot-2 forward from South Bend, Ind., joined the Orange after graduating from Wichita State in May. She scored 601 points and grabbed 286 rebounds in 48 games over the last two seasons. She was named All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) Second Team and Academic Team honors in her first season with the Shockers and appeared in all 18 games with 17 starts. As a senior in 2021-22, Strong shot a career-best 77.4 percent from the field and averaged 10.9 points and 5.6 boards per game.
When Strong decided to enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility left, she said newly appointed Syracuse Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack was the first call to coach her. It was an easy decision to join the SU legend at her alma mater and play in the super competitive Atlantic Coast Conference. Strong dives into her basketball roots, her faith and the excitement everyone should feel heading into this season in this episode of Meet the Orange.
The Meet the Orange miniseries is aimed to introduce fans to the new faces of @CuseWBB and build excitement for Coach Jack's first season leading her alma mater.
