ORANGE RETURN TO ACC ACTION VS. PITT
• Syracuse will play three of its final four games of the season on the road, beginning Saturday at Pittsburgh.
• The game will air on ACC Network with Chris Cotter (PxP), Mark Herzlich (analyst) and Lericia Harris (reporter) on the call.
• Syracuse is 1-1 in road games this season.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
• RB Sean Tucker continues his climb on Syracuse's all-time rushing list. He increased his career yardage total to 2,880 with his performance against Notre Dame to move into fifth place on the Orange's all-time record list.
• He needs 55 yards to move past Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame inductee Larry Csonka (1965-67) for fourth place.
• Tucker is just the sixth running back in program history to surpass 2,800 yards rushing.
SERIES HISTORY
• Saturday's game will be the 78th all-time meeting between Syracuse and Pittsburgh - the Orange's most frequent opponent. The two have played every year since 1955.
• The Panthers lead the all-time series, 42-32-3.
• The series dates back to 1916, and the Orange notched their first win against Pitt in 1919. The Panthers recorded an 11-game winning streak from 1973-1983, to which Syracuse responded by going 16-1-1 from 1984-2001. The Orange's 77 matchups vs. Pittsburgh are their most against any opponent.
HOUSE CALLS
• RB Sean Tucker and QB Garrett Shrader have been right at home in the end zone over the last two seasons.Â
• The duo has combined for 40 TDs when playing with one another (since Shrader arrived in '21) which is the fourth-highest scoring backfield tandem in program history, through just a year and a half.
• Both rank in the top-15 in rushing touchdowns in program history. Tucker is tied for 10th (23) and Shrader 13th (20). Only six players have scored more than 25 rushing touchdowns at SU, with Walter Reyes (45) owning the record.
• Tucker is tied for eighth in total TDs at Syracuse (27).Â
• Reyes and Damien Rhodes combined for 61 touchdowns when playing together over three seasons to be the highest-scoring tandem in program history. Eric Dungey and Dontae Strickland (50) in 49 career games together from 2015-18 ranks second. Floyd Little and Larry Csonka scored 41 together through 20 games in 1965-66, one ahead of Shrader and Tucker through the same number of contests.
GADSDEN SETTING NEW STANDARDS
• TE Oronde Gadsden II switched to tight end from wide receiver prior to the 2022 season and he is having one of the most productive seasons for a tight end in program history.
• He has already set the school single-season record for most yards receiving by a tight end with 671.Â
• In addition, his 41 catches rank second behind Nick Provo's 51 catches in 2011 for the most receptions by a 'Cuse tight end in a season. Â
• His 671 yards rank fifth for a 'Cuse sophomore, while his 41 catches tie for fourth on the school record list for receptions by a sophomore.Â
A WIN WOULD …Â
• Improve Dino Babers' record to 36-45 as head coach of the Orange.
• Give the Orange a 2-0 record against the ACC Coastal Division this season.
• Be Syracuse's first win at Pittsburgh since 2001.
• Give Syracuse its 748th all-time victory (includes 11 wins from 2004-06 that were vacated by the NCAA). The Orange currently rank 22nd on the FBS ledger of winningest programs. Syracuse is one of 32 FBS schools to have accumulated 700+ wins.
