
Orange Sweep Home Opener Double Header

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Syracuse (19-12 overall, 3-8 ACC) won both games in its home opener doubleheader against Pittsburgh (12-16 overall, 1-9 ACC). The Orange won the first game with a walk off advance on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning, with a final score of 5-4 and won the second game 1-0. 
Pitchers Ariana Adams and Lindsey Hendrix pitched complete games in their respective appearances.Â
GAME ONE
Pitt got on the board first scoring a run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth. The Orange responded in a first and third situation in the bottom of the sixth inning. Angel Jasso stole second base and Neli Casares-Maher advanced home on the throw to second where Jasso was also safe. A two-run double off the bat of Kelly Breen tied the score at 3-3 going into the top of the seventh inning.Â
The Panthers added a run to their tally in the top of the next inning. Paris Woods started a seventh inning rally for the Orange with her triple down the right field line while adding an rbi to tie the score yet again. Woods stole home on a wild pitch to win the game 5-4.
GAME TWO
Casares-Maher added her second hit of the day with a single to right field in the bottom of the third inning. She advanced to third base on a throw to third that caught Paris Woods out while trying to advance home. Casares-Maher outlasted a run-down to put herself in scoring position at third base. She advanced home on a wild pitch to score the only run of the game.
Lindsey Hendrix held Pittsburgh hitless until the sixth inning of the game while striking out 12 batters.Â
Neither team managed to add a run for the rest of the game, hanging the final score at 1-0.

Syracuse and Pittsburgh round out the series tomorrow at 12:00 pm. at Syracuse Softball Stadium.Â

- Syracuse has now won its last six consecutive games against Pittsburgh.
 - Hendrix's 12 strikeouts in the second game is her new career high.
 - Casares-Maher, Kelly Breen, Laila Alves and Paris Woods all had multi-hit days.
 - Ariana Adams compiled five strikeouts throughout her appearance.Â
 - Jasso recorded her 11th stolen base of the season.Â
